The Work Stuff:
What's your role at fu3e and what do you actually do?
On the Product side, I shape ideas and define the detail so we’re building the right thing for the right reason. On the QA side, I make sure quality is considered early, so what we release is reliable, intuitive and scalable.
When did you join the team fuser? 21/06/2021
What were you up to before fu3e? Before fu3e, I was working on finance system integrations, digital transformation programmes and ERP projects (Enterprise Resource Planning). It was complex and it taught me the importance of data integrity.
What's the coolest thing you've built/solved/shipped at fu3e so far? The Stacking Plan tool on dashboards was really interesting. It visualises a floor-by-floor view of a building and helps manage occupancy or lease expiry.
Instead of spreadsheets or reports, it shows the building floor levels stacked on top of each other and answers questions like:
- Which floors are occupied?
- Who is using what space?
- What’s vacant or share space?
- When will the leases expire?
It makes data visible and mirrors the floors of a building – clear and neat.
What gets you fired up about working here?
The people, without question. It’s the best team I’ve worked with. Everyone takes ownership and we bounce ideas off each other and we care about what we deliver, which makes collaboration effortless.
What's one thing you've learned at fu3e that's blown your mind or changed how you work? That quality assurance isn’t something you tack on at the end of a process - it’s culture. It’s continuous improvement instead of chasing perfection.
At fu3e, we design for stability and long-term scalability and try to think about the rare ‘what-if’ scenarios early on.
If you could work on any dream project or feature right now, what would it be?
A scenario simulator that enhances what fu3e already does. Instead of spreadsheets referencing spreadsheets, that constantly need updating - this tool in fu3e will become a living pro forma where you can interact with scenario sliders that adapt to cost changes or market conditions.
So, for cascading costs, if material costs increase by 3% then this impacts Projects X, Y and Z by this margin. The AI proposes a re-calculation of the programme budget that’s already captured in fu3e and can automatically re-create a new one.
The scenario sliders will simulate changes in rent or interest rates and check the effect on key metrics like rate of return.
Another scenario could be weather impact, where it pulls data from local weather stations relative to the project location and uses historical tracking of extreme weather conditions like rain, storms and flooding. It links to project delays and cost impacts and then builds a model for future forecasts and scenario sliders.
A pop up can alert you that “If the average amount of rainfall exceeds X then the project will be delayed by Y”. In short, an interactive scenario planner without getting lost in complicated spreadsheets.
The Fun Stuff:
What do you geek out about outside of work?
Mid-week, I channel my energy into boxing training. At weekends, I’m usually experimenting in the kitchen - currently deep into a gochujang phase, with tteokbokki as my latest dopamine meal obsession.
What's your setup like?
A mega desk with my laptop in the middle, monitors either side, plus a wireless mouse and keyboard. A good chair is must have requirement and I’m surrounded by plants for peak productivity.
Hot take time – what's your most controversial tech opinion?
Data consistency is more important than fancy new features.
Highly structured roadmaps can limit creativity. They can overlook the time and resource needed for stability and optimisation - and sometimes block quick, high-impact wins by forcing focus on only the biggest, shiny deliverables.
Two truths and one lie:
- Ran a half marathon and now training for a triathlon
- My longest drive is 226yds
- I’ve been on TV
What's on your current playlist/podcast rotation? My Spotify algorithm is confused. I have eclectic taste in music. There’s been a few playlists made and floating around the team so that’s also contributing to the musical whiplash.
If you weren't in tech, what would you be doing? Something creative that still involves problem-solving - maybe a boxing coach or running a small café where I’d overthink the menu.
